Rose was born in Chicago, IL where she lived most of
her life. She became interested in art at a very early
age and was painting in oils at the age of 12. She
took art instruction all four years of high school. She
was tutored by a private instructor at a boarding school
her first year of high school. She continued her art
instruction the next three years at a public high school
in Chicago. Rose has continued to take instruction from
artists in the northwest and recently from the southeast
US.
Rose travels extensively around the world and draws
much of her inspiration from the diverse cultures she
visits. She is intrigued by the colors of a market
place, local clothing of the area, and such beauty as
the Burnt Sienna color of the cork trees of Portugal.
Rose tries to capture these things in her paintings.
Rose moved to the Puget Sound area in 1977
and has taken an interest in the growing glass culture
of the northwest. She has been doing fused glass for
the past 4 years and continues to experiment with all
aspects of fused glass.
